Melchior, Gaspard and Balthazar, guided by a star, came to adore Jesus in Bethlehem. Jesus sitting on Mary’s lap, receives the gifts of the Three Kings. Original mockup of the cover of the number “L’Illustration” Christmas 1894 performed sumptuously, very typed Art Nouveau, by Maurice de Lambert. This Parisian artist was born February 9, 1873 and was formed by Gustave MOREAU and Georges ROCHEGROSSE. He exhibited regularly at the Société des Beaux-Arts and at the Salon d’Automne. This work comes from the Archives of “L’Illustration” and was exhibited during the exhibition “L’Illustration, universal newspaper, A century of French life” 27 January-26 April 1987, No. 373 of the catalog of the Carnavalet Museum (Paris ).
