exhibition at Berney Fine Arts at Münsterplatz 17 in Basel
For its seventh iteration and now renamed “Cross Collecting NOW!” our joint POP-UP exhibition of Modern, Contemporary & Tribal Master Works will be held in the magnificent rooms of Berney Fine Arts at Münsterplatz in Basel.
This yearly event, concurrent with Art Basel, brings together major works of art from the classical modern and contemporary art scene of the West with Masterworks of Tribal Art from Oceania, and the Arctic Circle.
Since the birth of the modern era at the inception of the 20th century Western art has an esthetic, historical and moral connection to the Non-Western arts of Oceania, Africa, the Americas and Asia.
Artists, astounded, intrigued, and inspired by the new ideas and forms provoked by contact with the art of these far off lands and cultures quickly incorporated this influence directly into the foundations of their own art throughout the 20th and 21st century.
