Specialties: Jacques-Emile Blanche (1861 – 1942), Bernard Boutet of Monvel (1881 – 1949), Maurice Boutet de Monvel (1850 – 1913)
Graduate in law (University of Assas) and art history (Institute of Art and Archeology), Stéphane-Jacques Addade, who grew up in the midst of the memory and works of Jacques-Emile Blanche (1861 – 1942) becomes specialized expert for this artist in December 1991.
At the same time, in 1993, he was preparing an exhibition of drawings by Bernard Boutet de Monvel (1881 – 1949), which will be at the origin of the artist’s rediscovery and Stéphane-Jacques Addade’s dedication to devote himself, with the constant support of the painter’s daughter, to an important monograph by Bernard Boutet de Monvel, published in 2001.
After presenting the painter’s orientalist work at the Petit-Palais in Paris in 1999 as part of the exhibition Morocco, Treasures of the Kingdom, he organized the retrospective that took place at the Mona Bismarck Foundation in April 2001.
A member of the European Chamber of Art Experts since 2005, of which he is currently the Secretary General, he works in close collaboration with museums as well as with international auction houses and the Hotel Drouot. He thus appraised as an independent expert all the works of the estate of the heiress of Maurice Boutet de Monvel (1850 – 1913) and Bernard Boutet de Monvel dispersed in April 2016 by Sotheby’s.
That same year 2016, while publishing the second monograph he devotes to Bernard Boutet de Monvel, the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris rewards the quality of his work by awarding him the Montherlant Circle Prize, his most prestigious award.
